Mobiddiction delivers large scale, safety and compliance critical marine management platforms for government agencies responsible for coastal safety, fisheries, and marine conservation. For more than a decade we have worked alongside NSW Government and delivery partners to design, build, and operate digital systems that support real time beach alerts, marine incident management, and long term public education. These programs are underpinned by Mobiconnect, Mobiddiction’s cloud hosted platform, which provides the data backbone, integrations, and operational controls required for trusted, statewide marine management.

Our marine management solutions power real time shark detections and beach safety alerts delivered by NSW Government agencies in partnership with Surf Life Saving NSW. Alerts are generated from tagged shark listening stations, drone surveillance, SMART Drumlines, helicopter patrols and authorised field operators. Mobiconnect standardises this information and distributes it instantly to mobile apps, smart watches, web maps and official channels so beachgoers receive timely and trusted safety information.

Mobiconnect includes native support for geolocated, location specific notifications. Alerts can be targeted to a user’s current location or selected favourite beaches, ensuring information is relevant and actionable. This capability is core to both marine safety and recreational fishing platforms and is critical for managing long coastlines where incidents are highly localised.

Marine emergencies require rapid escalation and authoritative communication. Our platforms support emergency alerts such as shark incidents, beach closures and other critical safety notifications. Configurable workflows ensure alerts can be issued quickly by authorised personnel with clear governance and auditability.

Marine management involves many organisations and contractor groups with different responsibilities. Mobiconnect uses Role Based Access Control (RBAC) to manage who can create, review and publish information. This supports NSW Government staff, SMART Drumline and shark meshing operators, Surf Life Saving NSW, drone surveillance teams and partner organisations, while maintaining clear chains of trust and accountability.

Mobiddiction designs and supports a suite of marine management apps for both the public and authorised operators. These include SharkSmart phone and watch apps for beach users, the FishSmart app for recreational fishers, and SharkSmart PRO for NSW Government staff, contractors, Surf Life Saving NSW headquarters and members, Surfing NSW and boardrider clubs. All apps are integrated through Mobiconnect to ensure consistent data, alerting logic and governance.

Our marine platforms collect detailed operational and usage data to support reporting, evaluation and continuous improvement while strictly safeguarding user privacy. Public apps avoid unnecessary collection of personally identifying information. All shark detections, incidents and safety related events are securely archived and available for regular and ad hoc reporting.

SharkSmart and FishSmart are deployed on Amazon Web Services and operated as highly available services across multiple availability zones. Mobiddiction manages hosting, monitoring, backups and performance optimisation as part of an ongoing managed service. As an ISO 27001 certified Information Technology Consulting provider, we operate these platforms within a documented Information Security Management System, supporting strong security, privacy and compliance outcomes for government programs.

Mobiddiction has worked in marine management for more than a decade. SharkSmart and FishSmart have been in continuous use, maintenance and enhancement since 2015. Whale Watch extends earlier work delivered under the Wild About Whales program, originally developed for the National Parks and Wildlife Service in 2012, and continues to support marine education and conservation initiatives.
