Community Shark Bite Kits is built around a straightforward idea: having the right equipment available when it is needed can make a critical difference. The program provides community-funded shark bite kits containing essential trauma supplies and clear incident-management information, designed to help people respond while emergency services are on their way. The new digital platform makes it easier for people to find kits, understand the program and participate in building a more prepared coastal community.
For beachgoers, local businesses and community organisations, the website provides a central place to:

- Learn through shark bite response resources
- Report an issue when a kit is damaged, missing or has been used
- Get involved by participating in the community program

Building on the work that came before
A successful digital platform is rarely created in isolation. We would particularly like to acknowledge Danny Schouten and the Community Shark Bite Kits team for the vision, passion and community work behind the program. We also acknowledge the Dylan, the previous development team who helped establish the digital foundations of the project. Mobiddiction’s role has been to take that work forward, bringing the experience onto our latest platform technology and creating a foundation that can continue to evolve alongside the Community Shark Bite Kits program.

From a local idea to a growing community network
The story behind Community Shark Bite Kits is equally important.
The initiative grew from a real-life experience where a person survived a shark attack because someone nearby knew how to control a severe bleed. That experience highlighted just how important preparation can be when emergency situations occur. Today, the ambition is much bigger: helping put shark bite kits on beaches across Australia. As that network grows, so does the importance of having a digital platform that can support it.
